Our things are packed, our house looks like a bomb went off, and the movers are coming tomorrow. We have seen our friends and said multiple goodbyes. It’s finally becoming real; we are leaving the place we have called home for ten years.
After ten years in Uganda, I will miss many things about the Pearl of Africa. But there are also some things that I will be happy to bid farewell to. The good greatly outweighs the bad, but it would be dishonest of me to not address the things that I will most certainly not miss.
confess. I have frequently been pulled down the rabbit hole of Karen videos on YouTube. Who hasn’t? I’m not sure why we love to watch Karen melt down and make a fool of herself. Perhaps it makes us feel normal. I mean, I’ve got my problems but at least I’m not deranged like Suburban Barbie, right?
We have had the privilege to live in the pearl of Africa for ten years now. Sadly, that time is coming to a close. There are certain things that I will not miss (Bodas, politics, matooke), but there are things about Uganda that will be etched in my memory forever, and I will cherish them till the day I die. Here is a list of things I will miss about Uganda.
The Baby Boomers and Millennials have declared all-out war on each other. For almost a decade, Boomers have been calling Millennials pathetic, entitled snowflakes. They constantly make jokes about their continued reliance on their parents. But in 2019 the Millennials finally found a comeback that stung the boomers.
OK Boomer.
There are more important things at stake than our Second Amendment rights. This story is not about guns.
Has the world gone mad? No, it has always been mad. We lost our way in the garden. We can not find our way again without Jesus. But when we give ourselves entirely to Jesus, he strips all that hatred from us. He makes us New Creations. The rules change.
